Aguada Fort is a colonial building, built by the Portuguese who were ruling Goa in the 17th century. The architect behind this masterpiece was named Julião Simã, it is a stunning Italian design which main purpose was to keep the Portuguese safe from other intruders. Not only that, but it was also a water supply to many ships passing by, and it could hold up to 2,376,000 gallons of water. The fort has also a lighthouse offering the most beautiful view of the sea and a jail underneath, which was still used until 2014.

If you are wondering, what is the best time to visit the fort and the Aguada beach on which it is located, we would suggest you go between October and March, as this is the time when all the tourist attractions are open and the weather is perfect.

You can reach Aguada Beach in two ways, first one is you can go from Panji by using buses and taxis, which will take you to the place in under 40 minutes as it is located only 15 km away. The second way is from Goa International Airport (40 km away) which will take you above one hour by hiring a taxi, using a bike, or getting on a bus.
